Barcelona plans January loan move for Raheem Sterling

Arsenal is also keeping an eye out on the contract situation of Raheem Sterling.

Barcelona are reportedly interested in a January loan move to sign Man City striker Raheem Sterling.

Sterling is struggling at Stamford Bridge and has started just two of Chelsea’s seven Premier League fixtures so far this season. Catalan Giants are picking Sterling as an option of signing the winger during the transfer window.

Competition for Sterling is high since the arrival of Jack Grealish from Aston Villa. He needs to battle out with the players like Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez and Gabriel Jesus to find the place in starting XI.

La Liga club will make a loan move for the 26-year-old considering their financial issues. The Mirror reports that Sterling’s wages would not be an issue. Barca made a difficult start to the new season and take the ninth position in La Liga 2021-22. Koeman’s side has even lost their first two fixtures in Champions League.

Sterling is part of the England squad for World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Hungary. Three Lions would expect him to regain the missing form.

The 26-year-old star has two years left in the contract at the Etihad and chances for the extension is uncertain. The English international has netted 115 goals in 302 appearances for the Citizens since moving to Etihad from Liverpool in 2015. The recent report of Daily Star reports that Arsenal is also keeping an eye out on the contract situation of Raheem Sterling.
