Barcelona could restart their transfer pursuit of Manchester City star Bernardo Silva

The Blaugrana were extensively linked with a bid for the Portuguese international ahead of the 2021/22 season, after reports that he wished to leave the Premier League club.

This summer, the Spanish giants have been connected with a number of offensive reinforcements ahead of an expected makeover.

Barcelona currently has eight attackers on their books, but Luuk de Jong is set to return to parent club Sevilla, while Adama Traore is on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

When his contract expires at the end of the season, Ousmane Dembele will be a free agent, while Memphis Depay and Martin Braithwaite have also been linked with summer departures.

Silva had become restless in Manchester, with questions about his future at City, and Barcelona was keeping a careful eye on the situation.

However, the club’s financial collapse, as well as Pep Guardiola’s efforts to keep him, put an end to any possibility of a month in Catalonia.

However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona is still interested in the 27-year-old, with City valuing him at roughly €75 million.

Xavi, the manager of Barcelona, holds high admiration for Silva, and the two teams might work out a player exchange deal, with Dutch star Frenkie de Jong joining City.

De Jong’s future at Camp Nou has been questioned in recent weeks, with the potential of an exit if a fair offer for the former Ajax schemer is received.
