Manchester City confident of signing Erling Haaland

Man City can face a tough task from Real Madrid to sign Haaland.

Manchester City are ‘confident’ of signing Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland. They are optimistic to beat Real Madrid in the pursuit of Norway international.

The 21-year-old has become the leading transfer target for the Cityzens this summer and ESPN reports that there is optimism that City can beat off competition from across Europe to secure his signing.

Haaland’s €75m release clause will become active at Dortmund at the end of the season. The Manchester club raised funds through the sale of Ferran Torres to Barcelona in January and further income from the departures of Angelino and Jack Harrison have provided resources to conclude a deal.

Man City can face a tough task from Real Madrid as the Spanish giants are also keen to sign the 21-year-old. They find Dortmund forward as the ideal option if they fail to sign Mbappe.

Meanwhile, Los Blancos are not in a financial position to match City’s offer to Haaland.

The Norwegian has netted 80 goals in just 82 appearances for Borussia Dortmund since arriving from Red Bull Salzburg in the winter of 2020.
