Mikel Merino has a €60m release clause.
Manchester City is planning to bring Mikel Merino back to Premier League. He has become a regular for both club and country since leaving the Premier League. Merino has also played 11 times for Spain.
The 25-year-old failed to impress in his first season in the Premier League.
According to journalist Kike Marin, Manchester City are interested in the midfielder, who has a €60m release clause.
The Spaniard suits Pep Guardiola’s style of play and he’s a technically gifted holding midfielder.
A move to the Premier League with Newcastle was probably too soon for Mikel Merino, who was still young at the time.
Real Sociedad are not interested in selling their midfielder, but due to his release clause, they may have little say in the matter.
