Cristiano Ronaldo has set his sights on bringing Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne to Al Nassr, as the Portuguese legend continues to play a key role in elevating the Saudi Pro League’s profile.
Ronaldo, now 39, has reportedly urged the club’s top brass to make a lucrative offer to De Bruyne, in hopes of luring the Belgian playmaker to Saudi Arabia.
With De Bruyne in the final year of his contract at Manchester City, Ronaldo has taken a personal interest in securing his services for Al Nassr.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has reportedly pushed the club to offer De Bruyne a deal that could exceed £1 million per week, a figure that would more than double the midfielder’s current salary at City.
De Bruyne, 33, has been linked with Saudi Arabia before, and earlier this year, he admitted he was open to a potential move due to the staggering sums involved.
Though City are likely to ask for a hefty transfer fee if Al Nassr were to pursue him now, the Saudi club seems content to wait until De Bruyne’s contract expires next summer.
Ronaldo, who recently celebrated his 900th career goal, is said to be actively involved in discussions, hoping to convince De Bruyne to make the jump to the Middle East.
Should the Belgian midfielder choose to follow Ronaldo’s path, it would mark another major coup for the Saudi Pro League, which continues to attract some of football’s biggest names.
As talks are likely to develop over the coming months, all eyes will be on whether De Bruyne decides to take Ronaldo’s invitation and embark on a new chapter in his already illustrious career.
