According to writer Alan Nixon, Crystal Palace is considering a January transfer for Oscar Bobb, a winger for Manchester City. Under manager Oliver Glasner, the Selhurst Park team is looking forward to a busy winter window as they try to address the uncertainty surrounding captain Marc Guehi and bolster their roster.

Guehi’s contract is about to expire; thus, it is anticipated that he will go at the end of the current campaign. In January, he will have the chance to negotiate a pre-contract with foreign teams. Although it is doubtful that the defender would leave the team as soon as next month, Bobb has emerged as a significant target as Palace attempts to reinforce other parts of the team in the interim.

Nixon claims that Palace has already begun preparations for Bobb’s arrival from Man City and plans to recruit up to two new players in January. After battling for playing time under Pep Guardiola and making only eight starts in all competitions this season, the “incredible” Norway international may be available at the beginning of the year.

Crystal Palace weighing up move to sign Oscar Bobb

When Bobb returned to full health at the Etihad, Brown initially revealed to Football Insider in June that Crystal Palace was considering signing him on loan. The former scout, who spent more than ten years at Man United during their most prosperous era and has a plethora of knowledge in recruiting elite players, believes that the Man City jewel is still a viable choice for the Eagles in January.

“It’s clear that Oscar Bobb is a very talented player,” he said to Football Insider. “Therefore, it’s not shocking to learn that a team like Crystal Palace is interested, given their track record of nurturing young talent into better players.”

In that regard, it may be the ideal move for both Palace and him. Many teams are concerned about City Academy products because they find it difficult to adapt to a new system and style after they leave City.

“He might do, but Palace needs to evaluate that because playing for that Palace team is not the same as playing for Pep Guardiola.
