Kalvin Phillips, a midfielder for Manchester City, has spent a significant portion of his time at the Etihad Stadium as an outsider since signing from Leeds United. This season, the player has not played a single minute of Premier League action.

He was able to keep fit during a couple of loan stints at Ipswich Town and West Ham over the past year and a half, but that hasn’t helped his cause under Pep Guardiola, but a long-term solution to his future may soon be in the works.

According to Football Insider, Everton is hoping to sign Kalvin Phillips in January as David Moyes seeks to bolster his midfield, particularly to compete with Idrissa Gana Gueye in a holding role.

Kalvin Phillips is a player Everton has every reason to think they can sign in the winter. The English star may agree to a pay cut in an effort to jump-start his career, but Manchester City may be willing to let him go for a low price.

Everton likely to secure Phillips transfer

According to sources, Everton is actively considering Phillips as they evaluate the centre midfielder market heading into the winter transfer season. With seven games played thus far this season, David Moyes’ team is now ranked ninth in the Premier League.

Everton had a successful summer transfer window, and new players Jack Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall have formed a strong forward tandem. In order to maintain their impressive play, the Toffees will want to bolster their roster once more in January, and Phillips is on their shortlist of potential transfers.

Phillips has only made 16 Premier League appearances for City overall in his three seasons there, and he has never been able to make a name for himself in the starting lineup, much less the matchday squad. The 29-year-old might, however, find new life and a means of reviving his career with a transfer to Everton.
