Fenerbahce has launched a late bid to sign Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson, creating a potential bidding war with rival Turkish club Galatasaray for the Brazilian superstar.
The surprise move comes just days before the summer transfer window closes, adding a dramatic twist to the long-running saga surrounding the 31-year-old’s future.
Ederson, whose current contract expires in June 2026, has been a cornerstone of Pep Guardiola’s success since joining City from Benfica in 2017, winning six Premier League titles and the Champions League.
Despite previously dismissing transfer rumors as “99% fake news,” the goalkeeper is now seriously considering his options after both Turkish giants expressed strong interest.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Fenerbahce has submitted a €12 million offer for Ederson, exceeding Galatasaray’s earlier €10 million bid that City rejected.
The entry of another serious contender could drive the transfer fee closer to Manchester City’s valuation as the clubs negotiate through the final hours of the window.
Manager Pep Guardiola has maintained that Ederson remains City’s player unless he explicitly requests a move.
“If they want to leave, they will knock on my door,” Guardiola stated recently, emphasizing that no decision would be made without the player’s direct input.
Should Ederson depart, Manchester City is prepared to move quickly for Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma as his replacement.
The potential arrival of the Italian international would mark the beginning of a new era for City’s goalkeeping position after Ederson’s eight successful seasons.
With the transfer deadline rapidly approaching, the coming days will be crucial in determining whether Ederson remains at the Etihad Stadium or embarks on a new challenge in Turkey.
