The Turkish team Galatasaray is ready to step up its attempts to get Ederson Moraes in the closing days of the summer transfer window after their attempt to buy Diogo Costa from FC Porto failed, according to a report by Football Insider.
Several years after spending £35 million to join Manchester City, Ederson Moraes has slipped in the Premier League team’s hierarchy. In order to play frequently, the seasoned goalie must leave the Etihad. He could find it perfect to relocate to Turkey.
It’s unclear if Manchester City and Galatasaray can reach a deal for the player’s sale. Although Ederson has been a standout player for Manchester City throughout the years, he is no longer at his peak, and this may be the perfect moment for the Premier League team to take advantage of the South American.
Galatasaray in talks with Man City
In April, Football Insider reported that Ederson is still open to a high-profile move outside of Manchester City, making it more likely that he will quit the team. The goalie has long been coveted by several Saudi Pro League teams, but Galatasaray is now the front-runner.
According to O’Rourke, the Turkish powerhouses have refocused their efforts on the Man City goalie and are trying to finalize a deal. “Galatasaray’s connection to Diogo Costa of Porto was unexpected,” he told Football Insider.
According to what I understand, Porto is not interested in selling Costa and flatly rejected Galatasaray’s offer. He has a big release clause in his Porto contract—roughly £63 million, I believe.
