In the Carabao Cup semifinals, Newcastle United will play Manchester City, the eight-time champions of the trophy, over two legs. Newcastle, the holders, will host the first leg at St. James’ Park after the draw was revealed on Wednesday.
Three weeks later, the rematch will take place at the Etihad Stadium. The first leg will begin the week of January 12 and the second leg will begin the week of February 2. After defeating Fulham 2-1 in the quarterfinals on Wednesday night thanks to a stoppage-time goal from Lewis Miley, Eddie Howe’s team advanced to the semifinals.
Manchester City continued their pursuit of another domestic trophy under Pep Guardiola, securing their spot with a 2-0 victory against Brentford. Newcastle, the reigning champions, will go to Tyneside before City. If you haven’t been paying attention, the Magpies won the Carabao Cup the previous season, ending a 68-year drought for significant domestic honours.

The Carabao Cup semi-final between Manchester City and Newcastle, the current champions, will take place. The opening leg of the two-leg last-four match will take place at St. James’ Park the week starting on January 12, 2026.
In the week starting on February 2, 2026, the second leg will take place at the Etihad. We haven’t advanced to the League Cup semifinals since the 2020–21 campaign, when we won the trophy eight times.
We defeated League One team Huddersfield Town 2-0 and Championship Club Swansea City 3-1 before defeating Brentford. Chelsea last won the trophy in 2015 and finished second to Liverpool in both 2022 and 2024.
The Magpies defeated Liverpool in March to win their first domestic title in 70 years, while Manchester City won the trophy four times in a row in 2021 but has not advanced to the last four since.
