Jack Grealish has taken to social media to deliver a defiant response after reports suggested he had been deliberately excluded from Manchester City’s pre-season tour squad.

The 30-year-old winger found himself at the centre of speculation when City announced their travelling party for the upcoming Asian tour, with both Grealish and Kalvin Phillips notably absent from the list.
However, the former England international was quick to set the record straight, blasting reports that claimed he had been “left out” of the squad for the three-match tour through Hong Kong and South Korea.
“Just to let you know I’m still recovering from an injury so I’m not training yet,” Grealish wrote in response to ESPN UK‘s coverage.
“Haven’t been ‘left out’ so stop talking poo poo thanks.”
The attacking midfielder has not featured since January, when he sustained a serious foot injury during his loan spell with Everton.
The Toffees had the option to make the move permanent for £50million but ultimately decided against triggering the clause.
Grealish has been spotted training at RCD Mallorca’s facilities in Spain recently, suggesting he is closing in on full fitness, though no official return date has been confirmed.
City’s pre-season campaign kicks off on Saturday against Inter Milan in Hong Kong, with further fixtures against a K League All Stars side and Atletico Madrid scheduled for next week.
Players who featured deep into the World Cup have been granted extended rest, but Grealish’s absence stems purely from his ongoing recovery.
The uncertainty surrounding his future continues to grow, with Everton potentially revisiting a deal at a significantly reduced fee should Iliman Ndiaye depart for Al Hilal this summer.
Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal have also emerged as potential suitors, having already splashed £60million on Crysencio Summerville from West Ham United.
A move to the Middle East could see Grealish reunite with former City teammate Joao Cancelo, though the defender is expected to return to Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Phillips faces an uncertain future after his loan spell at Sheffield United ended without him featuring since February, with another temporary move to the Blades reportedly being considered.
For now, Grealish remains focused on regaining full fitness, with his immediate priority returning to action rather than resolving his long-term club future.
