Julian Alvarez addresses Guardiola’s remarks on his Manchester City future
Julian Alvarez, the talented Manchester City striker, has addressed the recent comments made by his manager, Pep Guardiola, about his future at the club.
The Argentine forward, currently showcasing his skills at the Olympic Games in Paris, responded with clarity and composure.
Guardiola recently commented on Alvarez’s future after the striker hinted at uncertainty about his role at City. “I know he wants to play in important moments,” said Guardiola.
“We have 18 or 19 players who want to play in the important games. I read he has to think about it, so OK, think about it and after that, he will inform us what he wants to do.”
Alvarez, 24, had expressed disappointment over his limited playing time last season, despite his impressive goal-scoring record. He noted that he would reconsider his future after the Olympics, with Atletico Madrid reportedly interested in securing his services.
In response to Guardiola’s remarks, Alvarez spoke to TV Publica following Argentina’s 2-0 victory over Ukraine.
“Yes, I heard what Pep said. I don’t have much to say,” Alvarez stated.
“I never said anything wrong. I’ve always said that I’m very happy and comfortable at Manchester City.”
He continued, “It was just an analysis of last season and a projection of what might come next. That’s all. That’s what I meant when I talked about thinking about it, like I do every year, like we always do.”
The uncertainty surrounding Alvarez’s future continues, with Manchester City reportedly valuing him at €70 million, with potential add-ons.
Any deal with Atletico Madrid might include clauses such as a buy-back or sell-on percentage, adding complexity to the negotiations.
As Alvarez focuses on his Olympic journey, the football world watches closely to see how his future at Manchester City unfolds.
