Joao Cancelo joined Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich on loan.

The Portuguese defender made his move to the Allianz Arena on a six-month loan until the end of this season.

The Bavarians has been longtime admirers of the 28-year-old defender who has already bagged two assists in his last two games.

Bayern Munich could make the deal permanent by paying €70 million in the summer after the loan deal expires.

Cancelo made 26 appearances for City this term but has fallen down the pecking order following the World Cup.

He has been a star peformer under Pep Guardiola but have found himself on the bench in recent weeks.

Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann has been a huge admirer of the Portuguese international.

“He’s a likeable guy who is very ambitious and can get a bit impatient when things don’t go well. He’s experienced. He played a very good game. He has a very high level of creativity. He’s also a good guy to train with,” Nagelsmann said.

“He prefers to play on the right rather than on the left. He has great ability to go inside, has a good shot, dynamism and good crosses, he has different characteristics than the players we already have in these positions.”
