According to sources who spoke to Football Insider, Kalvin Phillips, a midfielder for Manchester City, is most likely going to depart the team in January and has an exit option available.
Under Pep Guardiola, the 29-year-old is well down the hierarchy and will need to leave the Etihad to secure a spot in the starting lineup. Phillips last appeared for Man City in November 2023 and hasn’t played a single Premier League minute in nearly two years.
The former Leeds United player has just played eight minutes of competitive football this season, coming on as a substitute in Manchester City’s 2-0 Carabao Cup victory over Huddersfield.

Kalvin Phillips has likely Man City exit route
As reported by Mike McGrath of The Telegraph, Kalvin Phillips will be included in Manchester City’s 25-man Premier League squad for this season and will thereafter have the opportunity to revive his career at the Etihad Stadium.
As we look to the future, Phillips faces the challenge. Although opportunities may not present themselves often, he will need to seize them in order to prove his worth as a member of the Manchester City team.
According to sources, Phillips is unlikely to sign a permanent contract with another team during the January transfer window because interested parties would not have the money to do so rather.
It is anticipated that the former England player will go on loan until his future can be reevaluated the following summer. Over the past few seasons, Phillips has had two loan stints, but neither has been successful for the midfield player.
