A move could be challenging, but Manchester City is trying to outshine Dani Olmo because of his continuous issues at Barcelona. Before January, Manchester City is reportedly considering a transfer for Dani Olmo, according to Fichajes. A persistent problem with his registration at Barcelona may force the attacking midfielder to depart, but a transfer to the Etihad will be very difficult.
Dani Olmo, the Euro 2024 champion, moved from RB Leipzig to Barcelona just six months ago, and he has now signed a six-year contract. The attacking midfielder’s experience with the club has been uneventful thus far, as his play has declined after a brilliant debut under Hansi Flick. His financial difficulties with La Liga’s FFP regulations made it difficult for Barcelona to register him even before he could kick the ball for the team. In order to make room for Olmo, the Catalans reportedly had to de-register some of their injured players, including Andreas Christensen and Ronald Araujo.
Barcelona are facing registration issues with Dani Olmo
At the beginning of the season, Barca was having problems registering him with La Liga because of FFP restrictions, same like in previous seasons. Olmo was registered in lieu of Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen, who were both injured, according to some accounts. As Christensen and Araujo return from their respective ailments, Barcelona now has until December 31 to re-register Olmo. Should they be unable to register him, the player may choose to become a free agent and sign with another team.
Numerous teams, including Manchester City, have expressed interest in Olmo due to Barca’s difficulties re-registering him before the deadline. Several clubs have also been in contact with Olmo’s representation, but the Spanish player is adamant about staying with the Catalan team. Olmo can undoubtedly fit into Pep Guardiola’s tactical scheme, and the manager is an admirer of the player. The team has no trouble giving Olmo a respectable salary. But for the move to happen, Olmo’s approval is required. The Spaniard hopes Barcelona can find a method to register him before the deadline so he can continue his career in the Catalan capital.
