In 2026, Manchester City is prepared to make a bid for Elliot Anderson, a midfielder for Nottingham Forest, ahead of Premier League rivals Liverpool. In order to balance PSR, the Magpies regretfully sold Anderson to Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2024 after he made an impression for Newcastle United.
The England midfielder earned 42 appearances and scored two goals in his first season with the team, but this season he has elevated his game to an all-new level. Anderson has been one of Forest’s bright spots this season despite their terrible struggles and 16th-place finish in the Premier League standings.
Hugo Viana, the director of City, and Pep Guardiola, the manager, are both huge fans of Anderson, according to a Daily Mail article. Anderson, who is also well-liked by Manchester United and Liverpool, has been frequently seen by City scouts at the City Ground.
Although Forest are unlikely to consider any proposals for the midfield player in January, they would be open to doing business if they get offers around £100 million.

It seems obvious, though, that Forest would demand far more than that in order to let the departure of such a significant player in the middle of the season. After such outstanding achievements with the England national team and in the Premier League, Anderson has been in the news a lot lately.
Given that Anderson appears to be the best candidate to succeed Rodri in the long run, it makes logical sense that City is now showing a greater interest in him. Rodri’s fitness has been a problem for City lately; the Spain international missed most of the previous season and is having trouble with injuries this year.
Anderson is a player of a comparable level and appears to be desperately required to assist MCFC in returning to their peak. However, with Ruben Amorim in need of a long-term successor for the ageing Casemiro and an improvement over the unimpressive Manuel Ugarte, United might also benefit from rebuilding their midfield around someone like that.
