Benjamin Mendy will face nine charges in total.

The 27-year old Man City defender will be facing nine charges including seven counts of rape.

He has already been suspended by Manchester City and was released on bail on January 7.

His bail conditions are to reside at his home address, surrender his passport and avoid contacting alleged victims.

Judge Patrick Thompson has asked the lawyers to get the case he ready as he set the date for trial which can last up to six weeks, starting July 25.

He said: “It’s not fair on the complainants and not fair on the defendants.

“I’m conscious of the fact that the complainants have already suffered significant delay.

“Say, for example, Mr Mendy, his career is on hold. Everyone has got to understand Mr Mendy can’t go to work. This matter needs to be tried.”
