Chelsea reach personal terms with Manchester City defender Nathan Ake

According to those close to the agents’ industry who spoke to CaughtOffside, Inter Milan, Juventus, and Crystal Palace are all getting ready to compete for the Manchester City defender during the January transfer window.

Clubs around Europe looking for defensive reinforcements have expressed interest in City, who are reportedly open to offers in the €30–35 million bracket. This season, the Dutch defender has only made five league appearances.

In order to strengthen their backlines this winter, Inter and Juventus are both aggressively working behind the scenes. Top Serie A teams are interested in Rodríguez because of his tactical versatility, which allows him to play as a centre defender, left back, or in a three-man defence.

But Italy won’t be the only country in the race. As they prepare for Marc Guehi’s possible departure—who has attracted interest from Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Liverpool—Crystal Palace has also entered the picture.

Man City are linked with a move for an Aston Villa defender

As previously stated, it wouldn’t be shocking if John Stones or Nathan Aké decided to depart City in the next summer. When it comes to centre backs, Manchester City has an abundance of youthful players. Young, gifted centre backs Vitor Reis, Juma Bah, and Abdukodir Khusanov have the potential to be important members of the team.

However, it’s unclear if they’ll be prepared to make a significant move and start for Pep Guardiola’s club the next season. Ezri Konsa may be a good match if Manchester City decides to add another seasoned centre back in the summer. He is a 28-year-old with extensive Premier League and international experience.

Konsa is an excellent centre back who has made a name for himself in the Premier League and at Aston Villa. Given his significance to Aston Villa, his current deal expires in 2028, and he probably wouldn’t be cheap. However, as a player, he would be a more than suitable substitute for John Stones or Nathan Ake.
