This summer, Man City intends to begin initial negotiations with Nottingham Forest in order to determine whether to make a bid for Morgan Gibbs-White. In an exclusive interview with Football Insider, former Man United and Blackburn top scout Mick Brown, who is still well connected in the league, stated that they want to determine what it would take to sign the 25-year-old.
Gibbs-White would offer a different approach from departing Kevin De Bruyne, and Pep Guardiola is rumored to have been impressed by his performances at the City Ground. Nevertheless, City is evaluating other options for the role and would be ready to move on if they don’t hear positive feedback regarding the agreement.
Gibbs-White is one of four Man City targets to succeed De Bruyne, who announced his departure this summer, according to Football Insider. Longtime objectives at the Etihad have also included Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala, and there have also been behind-the-scenes discussions about Phil Foden perhaps getting a new role.
Man City eyes Morgan Gibbs-White
Brown stated to Football Insider in March that Man City has been in negotiations with Wirtz’s agents in an attempt to sign him before Bayern Munich does.
A move for Gibbs-White will mostly depend on Forest’s position, the former scout, who has over ten years of expertise recruiting top-tier players from Man United during their most successful period, has now stated. He said, “Morgan Gibbs-White is an extremely talented player,” to Football Insider.
However, if that’s what Man City wants, he won’t be a perfect substitute for Kevin De Bruyne. “He’s a different type of player; he’s a worker and a runner and he can change a game, but he’s not necessarily a creative player,” the statement reads. Much of it will rely on if a deal can be reached.
“I anticipate that City will contact Forest to find out what it would take to sign him this summer, and if they inform them that he is not for sale, they will consider other options.” I doubt they will let Gibbs-White go so lightly because he is a fantastic fit for that Forest squad.
