According to reports, Manchester City has changed their fullback targets from Juventus to highly regarded Turin star Nicolo Savona. Initially, they were interested in his Italy international teammate Andrea Cambiaso.
City has filled the right-back position in the second half of the season with a combination of midfielder Matheus Nunes and veteran star Kyle Walker after allowing Walker to go on loan to Italy in the new year.
With City also keeping an eye on Tino Livramento of Newcastle United and Wesley Franca of Flamengo—along with the aforementioned Juventus pair—the position is anticipated to be improved this summer.
According to Tuttosport, City was strongly linked to a move for Cambiaso during the January transfer window. They plan to try to reignite that interest when the summer window opens.
According to a recent Footmercato report, the Etihad team and Savona have reached a verbal agreement on personal terms in anticipation of a potential summer deal. Tuttosport also stated that the Bianconeri are “open” to selling Savona.
Man City have already agreed terms with Juventus defender
According to Footmercato, Man City already has a verbal agreement on personal terms with Savona ahead of a possible deal in the summer transfer window. Tuttosport adds that the Bianconeri would be ‘open’ to his sale.
Sunday’s report claims that representatives from City will continue to discuss a potential move further with Savona’s agent in order to reach a full agreement for a summer transfer.
There are, however, a number of other options on City’s full-back wishlist, including Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento and Wesley Franca of Flamengo.
Savona has enjoyed a rapid rise into the Juventus first team, having made his senior debut during the 3-0 victory over Como in the first match of the 2024-25 Serie A season.
Since then, he has gone on to make 36 appearances across all competitions, including 27 in Serie A and seven in the Champions League, and has also earned his first call-up to Luciano Spalletti’s Italy national team squad.
