According to reliable transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City has verbally agreed to sign highly regarded PSG striker Mahamadou Sangare on a free transfer. After a medical, the 18-year-old, who finished as the UEFA Youth League’s joint-top scorer, is expected to join City’s academy.

Romano verified the agreement on X, writing, “Manchester City has reached an agreement to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s 18-year-old forward Mahamadou Sangare on a free transfer. Let’s get started”! Verbal agreement in place, medical to take place, and one more great young talent for the Man City Academy winning the race for the PSG gem,” he continued.

This transaction is in line with a recent trend of wise youth investment, even if Manchester City’s success in the transfer market has sometimes been linked to headline-grabbing sums. Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis, and Claudio Echeverri’s January window additions signaled a change in strategy toward securing long-term value through high-ceiling talent.

Man City academy push continues with Sangare signing

The France Under-18 international has scored eight goals and provided two assists in six games for PSG’s minor team this season in the UEFA minor League. The forward possesses a keen eye for goal, superb movement, and fast feet. Young players have been brought through Man City’s system in the past.

They have produced players in recent years, including Phil Foden, Cole Palmer, and Liam Delap. They have also been known to buy up young players and then sell them for a profit after they meet the required standards.

Sangare’s transfer to the city aligns with their long-term goal of identifying and nurturing talent inside. Even though the Premier League season has been challenging, Man City has advanced to the FA Cup final and will try to win when they play Crystal Palace. They are still in the running to qualify for the Champions League as well.
