The Ukrainian, currently behind Thibaut Courtois in the pecking order, could offer City the reliable presence they crave amid uncertainty surrounding their first-choice keeper Ederson.
Sources close to Fichajes.net indicate that City are prepared to submit a €30 million offer for Lunin, with Pep Guardiola personally keen to reinforce his goalkeeping options ahead of next season.
The 26-year-old extended his contract with Madrid until 2030, but lack of playing time has prompted interest from multiple clubs, and City aim to capitalize on this situation.
In parallel, speculation is mounting around Ederson’s future. The Brazilian, who turns 32 next month, is reportedly drawing interest from Galatasaray which has officially enquired about his availability and Saudi Arabian clubs, which have offered lucrative contracts up to €25 million annually.
While City have yet to confirm his departure, Ederson has one year left on his contract and may be open to fresh challenges.
Should Ederson depart, City will need a reliable option in goal. They view Lunin as an appealing candidate: still young, proven in high‑pressure games (notably during Real Madrid’s Champions League campaigns), and eager for a starting berth. Guardiola sees him as both immediate reinforcement and longer‑term investment.
Other clubs are monitoring Lunin too. Aston Villa have shown interest as a potential successor to Emiliano Martinez, and Galatasaray remain in the mix for both Ederson and Lunin, offering financial packages and playing time realignment.
