According to reports, Manchester City has found out how long winger Savinho will be out after suffering an ankle injury during Wednesday’s 2-1 EFL Cup loss to Tottenham Hotspur. After setting up Matheus Nunes’s consolation goal in North London, the 20-year-old was taken off on a stretcher shortly after the hour due to a concerning injury to his ankle.
After the loss, Pep Guardiola expressed his optimism that the Brazilian attacker would not be away for too long, although he was unaware of how serious Savinho’s issue was. “We’ll find out what transpired tomorrow. Given that it was on the bone, we must determine if it was merely a knock or anything else. “We’ll see [on Thursday], hopefully, but it’s nothing dangerous,” Guardiola told reporters.
Man City ‘handed huge Savinho injury boost’
According to reports, Manchester City has been informed that Savinho’s ankle sprain sustained against Tottenham Hotspur in the EFL Cup will keep him out for no more than two weeks. According to PL Brasil, Savinho has only sustained a minor sprain to his right ankle, meaning that he should only be out for a maximum of two weeks. This seems to have answered the Man City manager’s prayers.
Although he will undoubtedly miss Saturday’s Premier League trip to Bournemouth and most likely the Champions League matchup with Sporting Lisbon on November 5, there is even hope that the former Troyes and Girona attacker could return to action in seven days. City’s Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion on November 9 is not an impractical comeback date if Savinho recovers quickly over the course of the next week. If no further setbacks occur, he will undoubtedly be ready to play against Spurs on November 23.
