Football Insider has been informed by sources that Man City is the most recent Premier League team to express interest in signing Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton. The defender for the Merseyside club is gaining more and more fans, and rumour has it that the reigning Premier League winners are prepared to pay a premium to recruit him.

Prior to their bitter rivals Manchester United, Manchester City had moved to sign a defender from Everton. After rejoining PSV Eindhoven on loan from the Eredivisie, Branthwaite emerged as one of the Premier League’s breakout talents in the 2023–2024 season.

Although his performances earned him a spot in Gareth Southgate’s final 26-man squad for Euro 2024, his exclusion has allowed him to concentrate on securing a transfer, as multiple Premier League clubs have expressed interest in him.

Man City ‘Move’ To Sign Branthwaite Amid £65m ‘Agreement’ Claim

Branthwaite was apparently Man Utd’s top target prior to this summer’s transfer season, and Everton rejected a proposal of almost £35 million. The Toffees decided that this offer was unacceptable. Man Utd is rumoured to have focused on signing Matthijs De Ligt of Bayern Munich as a less expensive option after being turned off by Everton’s asking price.

Regarding Branthwaite, the article from earlier this week stated that “sources indicate that an agreement of around £65 million will be sufficient to finalize the player’s deal.” Nevertheless, Everton managed to turn down United’s sly offer because they have been working hard behind the scenes to organize their finances. If Everton is going to sell Branthwaite, they want to keep him as one of their most valuable players, and they are willing to pay £70 million for him.
