Manchester City is said to be interested in one specific Liverpool target player as Pep Guardiola attempts to finish the nearly impossible task of enhancing a team that has recently won the Premier League title four times in a row. Manchester City has reportedly made an attempt to sign Newcastle United forward Anthony Gordon this summer.
Manchester City is prepared to confront Liverpool in the pursuit of Anthony Gordon, according to Football Insider. The revelation will come as a severe setback to the Merseysiders’ hopes of signing the Newcastle United star, especially since the Magpies are asking for around $100 million in exchange for the England international. Liverpool has discussed Gordon’s transfer, but because of Newcastle’s high demands, the Merseysiders have not yet completed the transaction.
Man City could sign Anthony Gordon as Jack Grealish replacement this summer
After recording 12 goals and 11 assists across all competitions, Gordon had a fantastic first full season with Newcastle, winning Player of the Year. The winger just moved to the Tynesiders eighteen months ago, from Everton, for £45 million, but in that time, he has become a vital member of Eddie Howe’s team.
Man City has now expressed interest in signing the Englishman as Guardiola seeks to expand his options for attacking play after winning the Premier League for the fourth time in a row last year. Since Football Insider reported that the English champions are open to hearing proposals for the winger this summer, Gordon may be considered as a possible Grealish replacement.
