Man City goalkeeper Ederson ruled out for four weeks after sustaining injury

Manchester City faces a fresh injury setback as forward Omar Marmoush sustained a knee ligament injury while playing for Egypt in a World Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso on Tuesday.

Man City’s Marmoush Becomes Latest Injury Doubt

The 26-year-old was forced off the pitch within the first nine minutes after a robust tackle, casting doubt on his availability for Sunday’s highly anticipated Manchester derby against Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium.

Marmoush, who joined City in a £59 million move from Eintracht Frankfurt in January, has become a key asset for Pep Guardiola’s side, scoring eight goals in 28 appearances across all competitions.

His potential absence would be a significant blow to City, who are already grappling with a mounting injury crisis.

The team is currently without several key players, including Mateo Kovacic, Josko Gvardiol, Phil Foden, and John Stones, among others.

The Egyptian forward will undergo further scans upon his return to Cairo, but initial reports suggest a bruised knee ligament.

While the injury is not believed to be serious, his fitness remains a major concern ahead of City’s critical fixtures, which include the derby, a Champions League opener against Napoli, and a Premier League clash with Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Manchester United also faces injury concerns, with Matheus Cunha, Mason Mount, and Diogo Dalot racing against time to be fit for the showdown.

However, City’s injury woes appear more severe, adding pressure on Guardiola to reshuffle his squad for the must-win match.

As both teams await final fitness updates, all eyes will be on Marmoush’s condition, with City hoping to avoid further setbacks in their pursuit of a strong response after recent defeats to Tottenham and Brighton.
