Manchester City midfielder Rodri has sent a clear message to Premier League leaders Arsenal, insisting the title race is far from over after his side’s late collapse against Chelsea.
“Long Way to Go” – Rodri Warns Arsenal After City’s Stumble
The defending champions dropped crucial points at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, conceding a stoppage-time equalizer to Enzo Fernandez in a 1-1 draw.
The result, following a previous stumble against Sunderland, leaves Pep Guardiola’s team six points behind the Gunners.
Rodri expressed clear frustration after the match. He stated City created enough chances in a dominant first half to win comfortably but paid for not taking them.
“It’s frustrating, of course, but at the end of the day it is what it is,” he said. “We have to learn from this.”
Despite the setback, the Spanish international stressed the long road ahead.
“There is still a long way [to go] and we just need to focus on the next games,” Rodri insisted.
“We know that this season is going to be long so we have to keep going and going.”
His comments serve as a direct signal to Arsenal that City will not relent in their pursuit of a fourth consecutive title.
Rodri also spoke personally, describing his return from a long injury absence as a “gift” and emphasizing his joy at simply playing again.
The draw, secured by a Chelsea side under caretaker management, highlights a potential shift in momentum.
Former City goalkeeper Shay Given called the week “huge,” noting Arsenal have capitalized fully on City’s stumbles. He also pointed to City’s stretched squad, with several key players missing.
With Arsenal facing a tough test against Liverpool next, City now must regroup for a home match against Brighton.
Rodri’s promise to “keep going” confirms the champions view this not as a decisive blow, but merely another twist in a marathon campaign.
