According to reports, Manchester City is considering making an unexpected approach for a Chelsea player. Chelsea has had a busy summer, but they have been far more frugal with their expenditure this time. In addition to confirming some significant departures, like Joao Felix and Noni Madueke, who together have brought in over £90 million, the Blues have added four significant new players.
If the Blues want to keep spending money, they will need to make more departures and sales, including possibly Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku, since they still have more signings to make. A deal to get Blues prodigy Josh Acheampong is reportedly of interest to Manchester City, according to The Guardian via Chelsea News. Clubs may try to take advantage of it by attempting to lure Chelsea into agreements.
Maresca has previously stated, “The clubs that you mentioned, they like Josh, but we also like Josh.” Acheampong has previously been connected to other clubs. Good players are preferred by all clubs. I have a clear strategy with Josh. I’ve expressed my admiration for Josh on several occasions.
Man City show interest in Chelsea player
City is keeping an eye on Acheampong in an effort to invest in long-term possibilities and create depth at the back. Pep Guardiola’s team believes the teenager has the potential to grow as a player in the years to come and wants to bolster their defense even further.
However, Chelsea has yet to receive any formal proposals for Acheampong. Until things change, the London team is adamant on keeping him and won’t engage in negotiations. Acheampong gained notoriety in the summer after playing a part in Chelsea’s Club World Cup campaign, which the team ultimately won.
He is a desirable choice due to his defensive flexibility, which allows him to play a variety of backline positions. With Levi Colwill out due to a significant knee injury, the youngster may have more opportunities in the upcoming season.
Maresca thinks Acheampong is prepared to continue developing with the senior team and fill in when needed. The young player is being watched by more than just City and Bournemouth. West Ham, Newcastle United, and Crystal Palace are also keeping a close eye on his progress and may look into potential deals soon.
