Manchester City Begin Negotiations For Lautaro Martinez

Manchester City have reportedly begun talks with Inter Milan for Lautaro Martinez.

Goal.com understands that Pep Guardiola wants the Argentine at Manchester.

With concerns of Sergio Aguero’s future, the Cityzens will need to line up a successor. Aguero has lately been strapped to the rehab table due to niggling injuries. His absence has clearly shown up on City’s scoring charts as Guardiola tries to make another run for the title.

Whenever the veteran isn’t playing, there is a lack of attacking threat in this City side and that is worrying. Gabriel Jesus was supposed to take over from Aguero but does not have the same quality as him.

Martinez is regarded highly in the Serie A since bursting into form under Antonio Conte. He has been exceptional in Inter’s forward line, forming a solid partnership with Romelu Lukaku. Barcelona wanted to sign him last summer but could not come up with the funds.

City do have deep enough pockets to make Martinez a record signing. Aguero’s deal is set to expire next June and a new contract has not been signed yet. The Argentine is yet to respond over City’s latest offer.
