Pep Guardiola gives verdict on final-day in Premier League title race

According to GIVEMESPORT sources, Eintracht Frankfurt has decided at the last minute to raise their expectations, which means Manchester City will face a new obstacle if they hope to entice Omar Marmoush to the Etihad Stadium before the winter transfer window closes. Uzbekistan international Abdukodir Khusanov is set to complete a £33.5 million transfer from Ligue 1 team Lens, putting Sky Blues manager Pep Guardiola within striking distance of strengthening his backline after watching his team blow a two-goal lead in a draw with Brentford on Tuesday.

However, as the deadline of February 3 draws near, Manchester City’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain, who is heading the team’s final recruitment push before being replaced by Hugo Viana in the summer, is also trying to finalize the deal for Marmoush.

Sky Blues Contending with Marmoush U-Turn

Last week, City’s sports director, Txiki Begiristain, initiated talks with Eintracht Frankfurt. On Monday, following the top-flight champions’ alleged first formal bid, new conversations between the parties took place. Including add-ons, German sources estimate its value to be between £55 million (€65 million) and £59 million (€70 million), falling just short of Frankfurt’s £67.5 million (€80 million) estimation. The transfer talks are reportedly being heavily influenced by Axel Hellmann, the spokesperson for the Eintracht board.

In the 48 hours leading up to Frankfurt’s league matchup with Borussia Dortmund on Friday night, City is reportedly optimistic about getting the breakthrough. In addition to expecting the remainder of the package to consist of reasonable performance-related add-ons, Eintracht is aiming for a base fee of £59 million (€70 million). As the rumors swirled in the background, 25-year-old forward Marmoush has kept up his impressive play on the pitch and failed to let them affect his form.
