Manchester City are convinced that Lionel Messi will join them next summer.
Lionel Messi was subject to endless transfer speculation all over the summer months. He was on the verge of leaving Barcelona after being in Catalonia for nearly two decades.
Many clubs lined up to sign him with a legal battle ensuing over Messi’s terminating contract. As it stood, Messi refused to take up arms against his club and decided to stay in for another year.
He will however, once again see his contract expire in 2021. The player will be a free agent and have his pick of choice to go to any club he wants. Barcelona are struggling to manage their finances and even though they want to keep Messi at Nou Camp, they might find it tough to be able to afford him.
This has convinced others clubs, especially Manchester City that they can get their man. Messi has been a target for Manchester City for some time now and they are offering the Argentine a lucrative deal for five years.
It would see him play three years at Manchester City and then for an additional two – if he wants to play at New York City!
