In an effort to land the player, Manchester City is now willing to make an incredible pay offer to one of Europe’s rising talents
Rafael Leao, a star for Portugal and AC Milan, has already gained the attention of some of Europe’s top teams. He also increased interest in his skills by putting up standout performances at the most recent FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Manchester City is one of these elite teams, and given recent team sales and the allegation that they frequently lack speed in the wide forward position held by Leao over in Serie A, they may be willing to spend in a new wide forward.
While the domestic campaign rumbles on and the fixture list gets busier, transfer rumours continue to simmer, and a new Italian source provides an update on City’s ostensible interest in the 23-year-old.
Rafael Leao’s father’s contacts with Manchester City have recently had a “sudden rise,” and they are prepared to “practically treble” his wage to €12 million each season. Although a bid of more than €100 million could be sufficient, it is reiterated that the Portugal international is still bound to AC Milan until June 2024, making a sale in January improbable.
Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, revealed this week that the club is content with the roster that is now available, all but ruling out the chance of new players joining them at the Etihad Stadium in the coming month.
