According to a recent rumour, three of the Premier League’s juggernauts are keeping an eye on Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount’s current contractual position
James Maddison and Jude Bellingham, two more England internationals who are expected to be available during the forthcoming summer transfer window, have been mentioned as potential targets for Manchester City.
While Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund is anticipated to fetch a transfer fee north of £100 million considering interest from teams like Liverpool and Real Madrid, City have informally distanced themselves from their desire in the Leicester City star.
Chelsea’s Mason Mount is the most recent candidate to be mentioned as receiving some sort of interest and scrutiny from those inside the Etihad Stadium this week, which could lead City to consider other choices. James Olley of ESPN reports that Manchester City, Liverpool, and Manchester United are keeping an eye on Mason Mount’s contract status at Chelsea as negotiations for a new agreement “block.”
Given that Mount’s current contract is slated to expire at the end of the upcoming season, it is noted that there has been “little progress” in recent months towards an extension for him at Stamford Bridge. Mason Mount is reportedly seeking a’significant rise’ on his current Chelsea salary, which is understood to be around £80,000 per week, as part of continuing negotiations and efforts to renew the England international’s contract.
While clubs like Manchester City, Manchester United, and Liverpool may be keeping an eye on the Mason Mount situation, ESPN affirms that the player is not actively trying to leave the club and that negotiations for a new agreement are expected to continue.
