Manchester City is on the verge of securing a significant addition to their squad, as Brazilian right-back Wesley Franca has reportedly agreed to a summer transfer to the Premier League champions.

Brazil Star Wesley Franca Says Yes to Man City as €35m Bid Nears

The 21-year-old Flamengo star has emerged as a top target for City, who are seeking to bolster their defensive options following the departure of Kyle Walker.

Wesley, known for his speed, dribbling prowess, and versatility in both traditional and inverted full-back roles, has made 128 appearances for Flamengo since his senior debut in December 2021.

His impressive performances have not only solidified his position at the club but also earned him two caps with the Brazilian national team.

According to reports from Brazilian outlet Bolavip, Manchester City has initiated discussions with Flamengo, presenting an opening bid of €35 million (£29.5 million / $39 million).

However, Flamengo is holding out for a fee of €45 million (£38 million / $50 million), valuing Wesley as one of their most prized assets.

The club is reportedly reluctant to finalize any deal before the FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled for June and July 2025, where Wesley is expected to play a crucial role.

Despite the interest from other European giants such as Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Juventus, Manchester City appears to be leading the race for Wesley’s signature.

The player’s desire to work under Pep Guardiola and compete at the highest level in Europe has been a significant factor in his decision.

City’s pursuit of Wesley comes as they look to reinforce their right-back position, with Tino Livramento of Newcastle United also on their radar.

However, Newcastle’s high valuation of Livramento has made Wesley a more attainable target for the Citizens.

As negotiations continue, Manchester City remains optimistic about reaching an agreement with Flamengo.

Should the deal materialize, Wesley would become one of the most expensive Brazilian full-backs to make a move to Europe, marking a significant step in his burgeoning career.
