Alan Shearer’s assertion that Jack Grealish should leave Manchester City is endorsed. The 29-year-old has only started seven Premier League games this season, placing him on the outside of Pep Guardiola’s ambitions.
Additionally, the England international did not play in Saturday’s FA Cup final defeat to Crystal Palace, which sparked speculation that he would be leaving City. Shearer, the legend of Newcastle United, thinks that should be the end of Grealish’s career.
“He is done with Man City.” He must go,” Shearer stated on the podcast The Rest Is Football. “For him (Guardiola) to bring on a debutant, a young boy (Claudio Echeverri), and [Ilkay] Gundogan rather than Jack Grealish when they’re desperate for a goal.” His time is up. He must depart; he is finished with Man City. Pep doesn’t like him, so he’s done with him for whatever reason.
Jack Grealish’s 5 transfer options to leave Man City
Grealish became a local hero at Villa Park, assisting his childhood team in regaining their spot in the Premier League. There was a great deal of pride even though he moved north in 2021, and it was during his time at Villa that he became a complete England international.
Grealish may not be ready to abandon European football for the Saudi Pro League’s wealth just yet. However, some younger players have switched, and he still has the opportunity to emulate former Villa striker Jhon Duran and former City teammate Riyad Mahrez.
Guardiola has spoken about Grealish’s current status at City and confirmed that he is still in talks with the player’s representatives, incoming director Hugo Viana, and departing director Txiki Begiristain about his future.
“I didn’t talk to him, and neither did we,” he claimed. People don’t trust me, but these items are the property of Txiki, the club, the agents, and, in this instance, Hugo. They will both make the decision. He needs to return to playing minutes again, but whatever happens will happen.
