Manchester City are preparing to shatter their club transfer record this summer to sign RB Leipzig’s teenage sensation Yan Diomande, according to Sports Boom.
Guardiola Targets Diomande as City Plan Record-Breaking Summer Move
The Premier League champions have already spent heavily in recent windows to rebuild their squad after losing stars like Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling.
As recently as January, Marc Guehi and Antoine Semenyo arrived at the Etihad.
However, City plan further additions this summer, with veteran Bernardo Silva expected to leave when his contract expires.
Now, manager Pep Guardiola has set his sights on a new forward. The 19-year-old Diomande, described as “outrageous” by scouts, has burst onto the scene in the Bundesliga this season.
The Ivorian winger has registered 11 goals and six assists in 30 appearances for Leipzig, quickly becoming one of the most sought-after young attackers in world football.
His performances have already attracted strong interest from Manchester United and Liverpool, both eager to strengthen their forward lines.
In response, Leipzig have slapped a huge asking price on Diomande’s head, demanding at least £87 million for his departure.
But City are now considering going even further. Sources understand the club is ready to break the £100 million barrier to bring Diomande to the Premier League.
Guardiola is said to be “obsessed” with the teenager and believes he can become the focal point of City’s next generation.
Diomande is open to a move to England, though his dream destination remains Liverpool.
Still, City’s financial power and Guardiola’s track record of developing world-class wingers could prove decisive.
City have not hesitated to spend lately, signing Omar Marmoush, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders, Nico Gonzalez, Gianluigi Donnarumma and James Trafford since last January alone.
Even with questions surrounding Guardiola’s long-term future, the club continues to invest heavily to secure the squad’s success for years to come.
