Renowned writer Fabrizio Romano recently disclosed on X that Morgan Gibbs-White, a star for Nottingham Forest, has been targeted by Manchester City for a transfer. It is thought that the Manchester team wants to acquire the English playmaker during the summer transfer window.

According to sources who spoke to Football Insider, Forest’s recent slump in play has caused them to drop from third to sixth place in the standings, and a Champions League exit could be the result of Gibbs-White’s departure.

That level of interest has been flattering for Gibbs-White, as the 25-year-old is Pep Guardiola’s preferred candidate to succeed Kevin De Bruyne at City should they fail to sign Florian Wirtz of Bayer Leverkusen.

According to Football Insider sources, Gibbs-White is also drawn to the opportunity to play under Guardiola, but Forest will not allow him to leave without a fight because they still have a chance to qualify for the Champions League the following season.

Nottingham Forest to price Man City out of Gibbs-White move

Long-range strikes from Gibbs-White are powerful and accurate. His vision also allows him to set up some attractive opportunities for his teammates to score. Additionally, the English attacker can dribble the ball well. He plays as a number 10 most of the time, although he can also be a right-sided wide player or a box-to-box midfielder when needed.

Gibbs-White should improve the caliber of Man City’s front line under Pep Guardiola. He is talented enough to contend for a spot in the Etihad Stadium’s regular first team the next season.

Man City should give Gibbs-White some serious consideration this off-season since, at 25, he still has his finest years ahead of him. He has some Premier League experience already, and he will quickly get used to life at the Manchester club. Thus, it would be prudent for Man City to make every effort to sign him during this summer transfer window.
