Manchester City have reportedly agreed to a new contract with defender Ruben Dias, ensuring the Portuguese star remains a key part of Pep Guardiola’s squad for years to come.

Man City Move to Keep Defensive Rock Dias with Contract Renewal

According to The Athletic, the Premier League champions have finalized terms with Dias, who was entering the final two years of his current deal.

The 28-year-old has been a pillar of City’s defense since joining from Benfica in 2020, making 222 appearances and winning four league titles, the Champions League, and multiple domestic cups.

Despite facing competition from Nathan Ake, Manuel Akanji, John Stones, and Josko Gvardiol, Dias remains a vital leader in City’s backline. He captained the side on multiple occasions last season, even as injuries limited some of his involvement.

The new deal highlights City’s strategy of securing core players while also strengthening their squad in the transfer market.

This summer, they have already signed midfielder duo Sverre Nypan and Tijjani Reijnders, left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri, winger Rayan Cherki, and goalkeepers James Trafford and Marcus Bettinelli.

Dias’s extension reinforces Guardiola’s trust in his defensive unit as City prepare for another title challenge.

With his leadership, experience, and consistency, the Portuguese international will continue to be a cornerstone in City’s pursuit of more silverware.

An official announcement is expected soon, confirming Dias’s long-term commitment to the Etihad.
