Kevin De Bruyne expected to sign new contract at Man City

Manchester City delivered a commanding 3-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, cutting Arsenal’s lead at the top to six points and turning up the heat in the Premier League title race.

Manchester City Crush Chelsea 3-0 to Turn Up Heat on Arsenal

Pep Guardiola’s side produced a devastating second-half display, scoring three times in 17 minutes to blow past a lacklustre Chelsea outfit.

The win gains extra significance after Arsenal’s shock defeat at Bournemouth on Saturday opened the door for the champions.

Nico O’Reilly broke the deadlock in the 50th minute, darting beyond Andrey Santos to head home from Rayan Cherki’s cross.

Marc Guehi then doubled the lead with his first league goal for the club, sliding into the far corner after a clever pass from Cherki.

Chelsea’s humiliation reached its peak when Moises Caicedo dawdled on the ball and ran straight into Jeremy Doku. The City winger dispossessed him and clipped a finish inside the near post to make it three.

City looked strangely timid in a quiet first half, with Cole Palmer lashing into the side-netting and Marc Cucurella having a goal ruled out for offside.

Gianluigi Donnarumma saved well from Pedro Neto, while Robert Sanchez denied Bernardo Silva at the other end.

But the visitors emerged transformed after the break. Erling Haaland had an early sight of goal before City took complete control. Donnarumma later denied Cucurella twice as Chelsea searched in vain for a consolation.

City supporters taunted Arsenal from the Shed End, singing “are you watching Arsenal?” as their team moved within touching distance of the leaders.

Victory over the Gunners at the Etihad next week would cut the gap to three points with a game in hand.
