Rodri warns Manchester City about losing title race if they lose against Arsenal

Manchester City youngster Claudio Echeverri is pushing for a move to Girona when the winter transfer window opens in January.

Echeverri Pushes for January Loan to Girona

The Argentine forward is currently on loan at Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga but has struggled for playing time and wants a fresh challenge in La Liga.

Echeverri joined Manchester City from River Plate in early 2024 and was immediately loaned to Leverkusen for the 2025–26 season.

The highly rated 19-year-old has made limited appearances in Germany, featuring only briefly in a handful of games and failing to secure a regular starting spot.

This lack of minutes has sparked interest in recalling him from his loan and sending him to a club where he can play more regularly.

According to reports from Diario AS, Echeverri has made it clear that he would welcome a switch to Girona for the second half of the campaign.

The player sees the move as a chance to play more consistently and make a bigger impact in one of Europe’s top leagues.

Girona are planning improvements to their squad during the winter, and adding a creative attacking player is a priority.

The arrangement could be simple to finalize. Manchester City and Girona both belong to the City Football Group, which could help smooth negotiations between the clubs over a loan deal.

Both clubs are likely to discuss terms in the coming weeks so that Echeverri’s move can be completed early in the transfer window if possible.

However, Girona face a practical hurdle before bringing in Echeverri. La Liga rules limit the number of non-EU players a squad can register.

At present, Girona already have three non-EU players in their squad, so one will need to depart for Echeverri to join.

The club is considering options, with certain players potentially set to leave to open up space.

If everything goes to plan, Echeverri could become an important attacking addition for Girona as they push through the second half of the season.
