Sergio Aguero will leave Man City at the end of the season.

City’s record goalscorer Sergio Aguero with 257 goals from 384 appearances will leave Etihad on a free transfer at the end of the season.

The 32-year old has played only five games this season as he remained sidelined with illness and injury for the majority of the campaign.

“When a cycle comes to an end, may sensations arise,” Aguero said on Twitter.

“A huge sense of satisfaction and pride remains in me for having played with Manchester City for a whole ten seasons – unusual for a professional player in this day and age,” Sergio Aguero wrote on social media.

“Ten seasons with major achievements, throughout which I was able to become the top historic goalscorer and forging an indestructible bond with all those who love this club – people who will always be in my heart.

“I was to join during the reconstruction era of 2011, and with the guidance of the owners and the contributions of many players, we earned a place among the greatest in the world.

“The task to maintain this well-deserved privileged position will remain on other. As for myself, I will continue to give it my utmost for the rest of the season to win more titles and bring more joy to the fans.

“Then, a new stage with new challenges will begin and I am fully ready to face them with the same passion and professionalism that I have always dedicated to continue competing at the highest level.”

Eric Garcia Puts Off Talks Of Barcelona Transfer

Eric Garcia Puts Off Talks Of Barcelona Transfer

Eric Garcia claims he is not thinking about signing for Barcelona right now.

Just last summer, it was thought that a deal with Barcelona and the defender was all but completed.

Garcia refused to sign a contract extension offered to him by Manchester City and hinted at wanting to return to his former club. Barca, with their financial restrictions, could not tie up a deal right then. So, they decided to wait another year so they can acquire him on a free transfer.

Garcia played for Spain in the 2-1 win over Georgia. He is set to be a free agent but nothing is certain regarding his future. Barcelona need defensive reinforcements and could use one their former academy products filling in right now. Garcia has developed well in England under the guidance of Pep Guardiola.

He said, via Mundo Deportivo: “I’m focused on what concerns me, now with the national team there is a very important match against Kosovo coming up, and then what comes will come. I don’t know if it will be Barca.”

Barcelona have been in contact with Garcia for a while but either party has not come to an agreement.

Raheem Sterling’s Mammoth New Contract Talks Put On Hold

Raheem Sterling's Mammoth New Contract Talks Put On Hold

Manchester City have currently halted negotiations over Raheem Sterling’s contract.

The England international is currently on wages of £275,000-per-week.

However, he fired his agent, Aidy Ward at the start of the year and brought in lawyers to oversee his affairs. His current deal is set to run until June 2023 but City are eager to tie him down to a longer contract.

Of course, Sterling will see himself get rewarded with a significant pay-rise perhaps on par with Kevin De Bruyne at £320,000-per-week. He is 26 years old and is enjoying a fine period in his career under Pep Guardiola.

Sterling has seen his scoring numbers drop this season but he still remains a key part of City’s entire setup. His pace, dribbling ability and finishing attributes make him an unique part of this squad. Guardiola’s men are now on course to lift another Premier League title, having extended their lead to 17 points at the top.

City have had discussions with the winger but Sterling will have to wait before he can finalise a new deal. Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho are also set to be approached for smaller extensions. Both of their contracts are due to run out after this season.

Phil Foden Hailed To Be The Best English Talent Since Gazza

Phil Foden Hailed To Be The Best English Talent Since Gazza

Former Manchester City forward Trevor Francis is stunned by Phil Foden’s talents.

Recalling his days in football, the 1981 signing claimed that Foden might be England’s most exciting talent since Paul Gascoigne.

“I remember when I moved from Glasgow Rangers to QPR and we had a game up at St James’ Park,” recalled the former City forward. “I was 34 or 35 at the time, and I was making my debut against Newcastle United.

“There was this young boy playing for Newcastle that day and on the coach back to London, I said to the manager, Jim Smith, ‘Jim, this young lad is going to go right to the very top’.

“It was Paul Gascoigne and he was maybe 20 at the time. I’d never played against anyone in my career with that kind of ability or seen anyone that good since George Best.

“Gascoigne was the most gifted young player I’d ever seen – and I’m feeling the same way about Phil Foden. I really like Foden and he is getting better and better.

“A few months back I was watching him when City played Cheltenham Town in the FA Cup and I can’t believe more wasn’t made of his performance that day.

“For a young boy to do what he did on a not particularly good playing surface, was fantastic.

“He took that game by the scruff of the neck and it was like he was a young kid in the playground saying: ‘this is my ball – and I’m going to take on the rest of you’.

“He took on Kevin De Bruyne’s mantle that afternoon and ran the game – and for a lad of 20 to do that, no matter who the opposition is, is incredible.

“I know it’s a game City were expected to win, but we needed somebody to step up because that tie was slipping away.

“That one run where he beat six or seven players was mesmeric and I just wish he would have scored because they would have shown it over and over again.

“I’ve never been so upbeat about the current crop of young English talent and I just hope Gareth Southgate utilises them.

“The majority are in midfield and Foden is among a group of exceptional talents that England fans are rightly getting excited about.

“We are blessed with some wonderful young players and Foden is one of the best.”

UEFA to scrap FFP – Can City go shopping this summer?

UEFA to scrap FFP - Can City go shopping this summer

The Financial Fair Play was set in as a guideline in the earlier years of the last decade by UEFA.

The FFP broadly spoke about maintaining a fair balance in money invested by clubs to keep the game competitive. It did not prevent clubs from buying players but rather made their investments a by-product of their revenues – a system which, had it been implemented correctly, would have greatly helped football.

As it turned out, FFP became nothing short of a joke as most clubs found legal ways to bypass the flawed rules, which were more of guidelines to begin with anyway.

The biggest slap came to UEFA when Manchester City, as suggested by evidence from preliminary searches flouted the FFP and made a mockery of it by setting up revenue funds of their own choice and when caught by UEFA, simply walked out with heads held high as if no error had been committed.

Well, things are about to get much easier for City as FFP is about to be revamped (most probably eradicted completely). The Sheikhs will not even need to attempt to blatantly hide their financial misdirection to buy whoever they want and win the game, without its spirit.

Congratulations, to the white-collar corporate world.

Man City backed to reach FA Cup finals

Ian Wright predicts the winner of Chelsea vs Man City FA Cup clash.

Man City are on the verge of a quadruple this season and beating Chelsea in the semi-finals of the FA Cup would be a tough task to overcome.

Chelsea are unbeaten under Thomas Tuchel since his takeover as the manager from Frank Lampard back in January.

‘You feel under this manager, [Hakim] Ziyech the other day, the way he was. Mason Mount is never going to drop,’ he told Wrighty’s House of City’s opponents Chelsea.

‘He’s an 8/10 performer. N’Golo Kante playing like he plays.

‘You think to yourself these players start to really connect, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and they get the striker nicking those goals, then City should be afraid.

‘But the way City are playing with their free-flowing football. You go into that game and City can have five or ten minutes and it’s over.

‘Chelsea you feel like they could do what they do, play the ball up to the final third, they can’t afford to continue to miss chances.

‘I’m going to probably go Leicester vs City [in the final]. As much as Chelsea are doing great stuff, City and what they’re doing, this time here is their best time since he’s been there.

‘They can probably go on to win the Champions League, if I’m being totally honest. If there’s any season it could happen, if he has that talk with them, it could be this one.’

Manchester City Targetting Danny Ings To Replace Aguero

0
Manchester City Targetting Danny Ings To Replace Aguero

Manchester City are reportedly aiming to sign Danny Ings next.

Sergio Aguero is in the final season of his contract and will likely leave this summer.

There have been no talks of an extension and City would likely want to move on to a younger striker. Ings is currently one of the hottest names in the Premier League, finishing last season as joint-top scorer with 22 goals. He has re-established himself as a potent scoring threat, capable of matching the likes of Harry Kane, Pierre-Emerick Aubameang or even Sergio Aguero for that matter.

Ings is also not just a pure goalscorer. He is technically good, can dribble past opponents and has terrific strength to hold up the ball. He brings other players in with his creative abilities. At 28, he is in the prime of his career and could offer City a solid presence up top.

Ings’ contract at Southampton is due to end in June 2022. The Saints would ideally like to extend his deal but they might not have a choice when City comes calling. Pep Guardiola’s entourage will definitely offer better terms, both financial and in the prospect of winning trophies.

Pep Guardiola sent warning over quadruple chances

Gary Neville claims Man City won’t have a better chance of winning a quadruple.

Man City are 14 points clear in the Premier League table and are favourites to win the league this year.

They are in the finals of the Carabao Cup, semi-finals of the FA Cup and the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Neville believes Pep Guardiola’s side has a better chance of winning the quadruple.

He said: “The league is theirs, you can’t say the FA Cup is, but what a chance.

“The Champions League is always the one that’s the most difficult to connect with the other two, the double has been done a couple of times, the league and FA Cup double, but the European Cup to connect with that has always been the problem.

“We’ll see what City can do, they’ve got the talent, they’ve got the squad, I just feel like in the Champions League, there’s always a team that can come and do you, and do what United did to them in the league a few weeks ago.

“It’s tough to do because it will come to a point where, as the season ends, every week is a big week and every week you can be out of a competition.

“Those cup competitions will come thick and fast and it will become like every game you lose at that point, the treble is off, or the treble is on and that’s where it got to with us.

“I don’t think they’ll ever get a better chance, it’s there for them, particularly in two competitions: it’s as comfortable as it could be, I think.

“I can’t write Chelsea off but I think they can beat Chelsea. I saw the Chelsea game at Stamford Bridge and City were so much better.”

Pep Guardiola wants to take a break from football

Guardiola hopes to not have any concern over his players during the break.

Pep Guardiola will take a short rest from football during this two-week break.

He also wants his players to not return with a positive coronavirus test after representing their countries in the international break.

City booked a spot in the FA Cup semi-finals by beating Everton 2-0 which also kept them on course for an unprecedented Quadruple.

‘In these next four or five days I will not think about football or watch games and then at the end of the first week and the second week we will start preparing for Leicester and (the Champions League quarter-final against) Borussia Dortmund,’ Guardiola said.

‘I hope they can come back and stay safe and well, not just for us but for them,’ he added.

‘Of course we have had incredible control but people are travelling so we spoke about this and told them to be careful.

‘We are lucky in England that it is the best country, along with the United States, to vaccinate a lot of people and that makes our lives easier.

‘Hopefully the people who go abroad come back safe.’
