Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus has talked about his form and return from injury!

“I feel so good,” he said. “I feel confident. I came back strong.

“Of course, I need time and a few minutes to get my physical condition back and my energy. But I am so happy to play ten minutes and help the team.

“We played so good. We have won three out of three in the group, that’s good for us. Nine points and we are top of the group stage. We are very happy.”

Without him and Aguero, Pep Guardiola has had to find a new solution of attackers to solve the goal crisis and City have done well.

“It’s good for the team,” he said. “It’s good to have so many good players in the group.

“Everyone can play and it’s good because the quality is high. It’s great for the club to have options.”

“Every game is important,” he said. “Of course, we talk about a Premier League game like Sunday against Liverpool against first in the league, it’s good because we have to play good and win the game.

“If we want to win the Premier League again, we have to win this kind of game.”

Why Manchester City Should Not Sign Lionel Messi

Why Manchester City Should Not Sign Lionel Messi

Pep Guardiola has been warned against signing Lionel Messi.

Former Manchester City striker, Emile Mpenza believes the club should prioritize improving the defence rather than signing the six Balon d’Or.

“I think that with all the defensive problems [Pep] Guardiola has, he doesn’t really need someone like Messi,” he said.

“He should sort the leaky defence out first. [Vincent] Kompany has left a huge hole at the heart of the defence and City are yet to find the stability they had when Kompany was running the backline.

“It’s a tall order to fill Vincent’s shoes and what’s the point of signing Messi with all the issues they have at the back?

“They have enough players in his position like [Riyad] Mahrez and [Sergio] Aguero. If they sign Messi that would be too many players for the same position and cause problems.

“I believe that he will link up with Pep Guardiola again at some point in his career, but not at City itself but rather for their partner club New York City FC.

“Guardiola has managed in three of the best European leagues such as La Liga, the Premier League and Bundesliga with only Serie A missing. For me MLS is his next stop and he will take Messi with him there.”

Man City forward Gabriel Jesus feels he can perform better.

On Sunday, he came back on the field and was featured on the field against Olympiacos on Sunday. Man City win 3-0 against Olympiacos.

Speaking to Esporte Interativo about his return, Jesus said: “I’m happy, man. I won’t lie, I was apprehensive. Everyone at the beginning, when they feel injury, gets upset. I’m no different. It was a little serious injury having caught the tendon, third degree. So it took a while.

I came back before the estimated time. So I’m happy to recover sooner, but I worked very hard, everyday; at home, at the club. You see all the work, training, come to the game, have the chance, play and score. I’m very happy.”

“I played today [vs Olympiacos], I could have 30 minutes of play. On Sunday I believe I can play more. And the confidence continues.”

Speaking of Sunday’s clash with Liverpool, he said, “It’s a very important game for us, it’s a direct confrontation against the leader of the table,”

“We need to win those three points if we want to aspire to win the Premier League again. We need to be very focused, especially playing at home. We need to play our way and try to win the game.”

Gabriel Jesus returned back to the pitch after recovering from his six-week hamstring injury.

He had picked up a hamstring injury during the 3-1 win over Wolves in back September, but managed to recover in time for the 3-0 Olympiacos clash.

And Pep Guardiola was very pleased with his comeback after Jesus scored a ‘brilliant’ goal in the 81st minute.

“It is important, of course the fact that Gabriel is back,” said Pep.

“He is so important for us. He scored a brilliant goal, and I’m so happy that Gabriel is back.”

“He played really well again and he scored a brilliant goal,” said Pep.

“He moves really well with the ball and without the ball. He’s growing, but he’s already scored a lot of goals. We’re happy for his performance.

“Overall in the first half, we played really good in all aspects; the way we pressed, the way we played, but unfortunately the finishing, the last pass, the last shot wasn’t perfect.

“But in general, the first half and the last 15 minutes was really good.

“The way we played the chances we created we had to score more.

“We created chances and then at the end when Gabriel scored, the game was over.”

John Stones Shines In Guardiola’s Eyes Against Olympiakos

John Stones Shines In Guardiola's Eyes Against Olympiakos

Pep Guardiola singled out John Stones for praise after Tuesday’s Champions League tie against Olympiakos.

Manchester City ran out 3-0 winners with Stones making his first start in over a month.

“Last season we did not have enough players for competitions when we had a nightmare with injuries,” Guardiola told BT Sport.

“It was really good, especially Nathan for the beginning and from John. He’s back at his level with an incredible performance – almost perfect – and it is not easy when you are a long time without playing. I am so delighted for his mentality, he played really good.”

“[We were] exceptional first half, unfortunately we could not finish with more goals because we played really well,” added Guardiola.

“In the second half we struggled for some moments but when we scored the second one the game was over. We struggled a bit to find the second goal but finally with an incredible goal from Gabriel and then from Joao, we finished the game.

“In general it’s good news for him and for us that Gabriel is back. It was a real solid performance, especially in the first half, and the reason why we struggled a little bit is because we could not score the second one.”

Manchester City face Liverpool next in the Premier League on Sunday. Guardiola said, “Now it’s good, we have finally four or five days to recover well and prepare for Liverpool and the international break, and focus on the Premier League.”

Man City defender Nathan Ake has spoken about manager Pep Guardiola’s future at Man City.

Guardiola had been linked with a move away from Manchester City up until recently when Barcelona’s presidential candidate Victor Font had stated that he wanted to reinstate Barcelona under Pep Guardiola once again.

However, Guardiola denied the offer and snubbed all rumours. However, the offer still stands.

“It would be good (if he signs) but obviously, it’s up to him,” Ake said. “So far we are focused on this season and trying to win titles. We’ll be focused on that first and then who knows what happens after.

Asked whether he had improved as a player under Pep, Ake asserted: “I think so.”The manager has been so good for this club.”

“That’s one of the reasons I came to work under Pep. I’ve seen in the first few months, the way he works with players, he shows what we can improve and works with me. I am learning.

“That’s a plus for me. It’s one of the reasons I came, and I see myself improving already. Hopefully there’s more to come.

“There are differences in expectations (from Bournemouth). You are here to win trophies and titles.

“You play in big games, in the Champions League. It’s a good step up for me, to improve myself and learn from one of best managers in world

“My first few months here been very good so far.

“The team and staff are making me feel welcome and that’s helping. I’m really enjoying it.”

Guardiola Gives Aguero And Jesus Return Update

Guardiola Gives Aguero And Jesus Return Update

Man City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed the possibility of a return of Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus.

However, they won’t be able to feature for the next two upcoming matches – Tuesday’s Champions League game and Sunday’s Premier League match with Liverpool. Post that, there is a possibility for them to return on the pitch again – but Guardiola cannot say for sure.

Asked about Aguero’s chances of facing Jurgen Klopp’s side, Guardiola said: “Right now, I don’t know but it is getting better.

“We don’t want to take a step back again. I don’t know about Liverpool but after the international break he will be ready.”

On the availability of Jesus, the City boss added: “It’s too early to know. He did one training session with the team. We’re happy he is back.”

When questions if he ever thought of giving players a resting period before the Liverpool clash on Sunday, Guardiola said: “Absolutely not. In the Champions League, you cannot make a false step because after that we’d struggle.

“We know in the Champions League you have to secure your games at home and win at least one away.

“We did that in Marseille but now we have to be sure we can keep the points at home.

“Tomorrow we have an incredible opportunity to take a huge step toward qualifying for the next round.

“This competition is not like a decade ago when I started as a manager and qualifying was easier than right now.

“It’s difficult, every game. People don’t believe it. It’s a tricky competition, that’s why I’m delighted with what we have done so far in the Champions League.

“We cannot miss this chance to get nine points and be in a position for one more step to be in the 16 better teams in Europe.”

Pep Guardiola suggested that Ruben Dias and Aymeric Laporte will be his centre-back pairing for the future.

Manchester City has conceded just three goals in seven games in all competitions and Pep Guardiola is pleased to see his side overcoming early defensive problems.

After the 1-0 win at Bramall Lane, Guardiola admitted that his side is struggling to score goals but his glad to see his side more organised and tighter on the pitch.

“We are in a better position than last week,” said Guardiola.

“Kyle Walker, he was incredible, Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte, Joao Cancelo, they are all doing really, really well.

“It is so important for us. We are delighted for what they are doing. This charisma in the back line helps us.

“Two shots (against us) in Marseille and Sheffield only had one clear chance in 90 minutes, so that is so good for us.

“But the reason we concede not one goal is not just them. They are doing really well but we don’t concede because of everyone’s contribution and we are delighted.”

OFFICIAL: Manchester City Complete The Signing Of Filip Stevanovic

OFFICIAL Manchester City Complete The Signing Of Filip Stevanovic

Manchester City have officially signed Filip Stevanovic from FC Partizan.

A report from Sky Italia states that City have paid in excess of €8m with add-ons.

Manchester United were reportedly close to finalizing for the 18-year-old themselves. Ole Solskjaer had terms agreed with the club to sign him in January and loan him back to Partizan. Of course, their closest rivals seem to have trumped them on yet another transfer.

The club’s official statement regarding the move read, “FC Partizan is pleased to announce the transfer of Filip Stevanovic to @ManCity, in the winter transition period of 2021.

“The transfer of Filip Stevanovic to one of the largest European clubs is a significant confirmation of the good and hard work of all club structures.”

Stevanovic did make an impression in Serbia, featuring against United twice last season in the Europa League. He has represented his country at youth level and shown plenty of promise over the past two seasons, making his debut at 16 in December 2018.

Manchester City do not have a host of youngsters breaking through the ranks but are building a good youth setup. Phil Foden is their star graduate who is making huge strides for the senior sides. Jadon Sancho is not associated to them anymore but is already one of the world’s best wingers at Borussia Dortmund.

Stevanovic is tipped to reach those heights someday.

Pep Guardiola might leave Manchester City at the end of the current season.

Or he might stay. Under these uncertain circumstances, Rio Ferdinand has drawn out the obvious bold choices players will have to make before choosing to sign for City.

“I was never really in that position as a player. Obviously, Sir Alex Ferguson was always fully committed and heart on his sleeve in that respect,” he told BT Sport. “But Pep is a different animal, a different character.

“It’s more important, I think, about what he’s relaying to the players. I think if he’s speaking to the players and filling them with confidence, then it’s OK.

“But the big problem, I think, with the club in the wider picture will be recruitment. If they’re talking to players they want to get hold of in January or the following window, if I’m that player, I’m only coming there, really, if Pep’s there, or I want to know at least who’s next in charge before I make my decision and commit.

“So the bigger picture is probably the bigger question – but his history does suggest that he makes late decisions on his contracts and where he wants to go. Man City will probably know that and be very well aware of that. Listen, who wouldn’t want that guy in their dugout?”
