Manchester City have set their sights on Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso as their primary target for the final days of the January transfer window, sources have revealed.

Manchester City eye Juventus star Andrea Cambiaso as deadline day target

Manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly keen to bolster his squad with a versatile defensive option, and Cambiaso, 24, fits the bill perfectly.

The Italian international is primarily a left-back but boasts the adaptability to slot in at right-back or even in central midfield. His technical ability and two-footed nature make him a standout candidate for Guardiola’s system.

However, securing Cambiaso’s services won’t come easy. Juventus, reluctant to part with one of their rising stars mid-season, are said to value the defender at around £50-60 million.

With the transfer deadline looming on 3 February, Manchester City face a race against time to negotiate a deal.

Cambiaso has been in fine form for the Serie A giants this season, making 28 appearances across all competitions and starting in 22 of those games. His contributions include two goals and two assists, showcasing his attacking threat and reliability in defense.

The 24-year-old joined Juventus from Genoa in 2022 and spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Bologna, where he further honed his skills.

His performances have earned him international recognition, with Cambiaso making his Italy debut in March 2024.

Since then, he has scored twice in 13 appearances for the national team, solidifying his reputation as one of Italy’s brightest talents.

Manchester City’s urgency to sign a full-back comes after Kyle Walker’s departure to AC Milan on an initial loan deal last week.

Currently, the club has just two recognized full-backs in Josko Gvardiol and Rico Lewis, making Cambiaso a crucial target.

As the clock ticks down on the transfer window, all eyes will be on whether City can pull off a late swoop for Cambiaso and add another piece to Guardiola’s ever-evolving squad.
