The Premier League winners, Manchester City, have added another defender to their roster, making it their sixth acquisition of the January season. Among the many additions Pep Guardiola’s team made during the January transfer window was the £59 million acquisition of Egyptian attacker Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt. Additionally, Man City obtained 18-year-old Brazilian defender Vitor Reis from Palmeiras for £29.4 million and centre back Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens for £33 million.

Juma Bah, another juvenile defender, was signed by Man City on Monday from Real Valladolid. The La Liga team claimed that the club had “supported and guided” the 18-year-old to skip training in an attempt to pressure the player into the transfer. Although Bah had paid the £5.1 million minimum release price provision to end his youth contract and complete the transfer, City refuted the claims. The purchasing club later returned the money. Bah has completed a move to Man City and is now on loan at Lens until the end of the season.

NYCFC defender Christian McFarlane joins Man City

The news that McFarlane is leaving NYCFC for sister club Manchester City was formally revealed. The 18-year-old, who spent many years with the Bronx team, is joining the Premier League. He began attending the academy at the age of eleven and progressed through the ranks until earning his first-team debut the previous season. Former head coach Nick Cushing eventually started a healthy Kevin O’Toole over the budding star, despite the fact that many would have liked to see him play more frequently.

McFarlane will not even return on loan, which is unfortunate since it would have been fantastic if he could have had at least a year to shine for NYCFC. For the time being, admirers will have to bid him farewell. He played a greater number of minutes than Joe Scally prior to moving to Europe, at least. In addition, supporters can be thrilled by this move. McFarlane has the potential to be a successful player in Europe. If he does well, he will be another successful NYCFC academy player in a major league. He deserves this transfer.
