England international Kyle Walker will be sent on loan to Milan by Manchester City for the rest of the 2024–25 season, according to reports in Italy. The two teams are currently considering the possibility of making the deal permanent at a later time. The Rossoneri, who can only acquire one English player this month, have been pursuing a move for Walker throughout the most of the January transfer window. They increased their interest when their attempts to recruit Marcus Rashford from Manchester United failed.

Sky Sport Italia now claims that City has decided to move Walker to Milan on a free loan. Walker’s contract with City is still valid until the summer of 2026, so Milan still needs to figure out a way to sign him long-term.

As per the details of the prospective contract, it is revealed that Walker would join on until June 2027 if AC Milan were to activate their option to buy the full-back at the end of his short-term loan arrangement in the summer. Additional information from Italian publication Calciomercato, as translated and relayed by Sport Witness, indicates that AC Milan would pay Manchester City a transfer price in the area of €5 million if they opted to acquire the services of the defender beyond this season.

Although the team has already signed two defensive recruits this month, it is unclear if Manchester City will be interested in signing a replacement for Walker right away during the remaining days of the January transfer window.
