City secured the deal ahead of several Premier League rivals, including Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur.
The club negotiated a total package worth £64 million, comprising an upfront guaranteed payment of £62.5 million spread over two years, with a further £1.5 million in potential add-ons. The agreement also includes a 10% sell-on clause for Bournemouth.
This major acquisition pushes Manchester City’s total transfer expenditure over the last year beyond £425 million, marking a significant investment in Pep Guardiola’s squad.
Semenyo’s move concludes a rapid rise, having joined Bournemouth from Bristol City only a year ago for approximately £10 million. His former club will receive 20% of the profit from this transfer.
Semenyo departs Bournemouth in dramatic fashion, having scored a stunning stoppage-time winner against Tottenham in his final appearance for the Cherries.
His sale contributes to a remarkable period of income for Bournemouth, who have now generated over £266 million from player sales in the last six months following several high-profile departures.
