Pep Guardiola could soon be at the helm of the England national team, as the Football Association (FA) reportedly approaches him to take over as manager.

FA Approaches Pep Guardiola for England Manager Role Amid Uncertainty

With his current contract at Manchester City ending next summer, Guardiola has become a prime target for the FA, which is keen on securing a high-profile successor to Gareth Southgate.

While there has been no official confirmation, reports suggest that the FA reached out to Guardiola earlier this season. However, the Spanish manager has yet to provide a response, keeping his future plans up in the air.

In a recent interview with Italian television, Guardiola addressed the rumors, saying, “I haven’t made up my mind yet. Leaving City or managing England, neither is certain at this point.”

Guardiola’s impressive record with Manchester City makes him an attractive option.

Since arriving in 2016, he has led the club to six Premier League titles and a coveted Champions League trophy. His experience and tactical brilliance would bring a new dimension to the England squad.

Former Manchester United player Roy Keane has publicly urged the FA to make a strong move for Guardiola.

“Go for the best. Pep’s contract ends in the summer,” Keane commented during an ITV broadcast, emphasizing that the FA should not hesitate to bring Guardiola into the fold.

However, Guardiola isn’t the only candidate on the radar. Thomas Tuchel, the former PSG, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich manager, is reportedly another top contender for the role.

In the meantime, England’s Under-21 manager, Lee Carsley, will guide the national team through the upcoming Nations League matches, following Southgate’s departure after Euro 2024.
