Pep Guardiola confirmed that five Manchester City players are currently isolating.
That means five names won’t be on the teamsheet when they take on Chelsea next.
Pep Guardiola was quoted as saying, “It was four people, two players, the first time and then three more. I don’t think the Premier League allow us to name the players but you will know tomorrow…”
City’s game against Everton on Monday had to be cancelled after so many players started showing symptoms. Even Tottenham Hotspur’s match against Fulham had to be called off due to similar reasons. Due to the widespread outbreak within the league, there were talks of postponing games for two weeks.
Guardiola continued, “We had enough players to play against Everton, we wanted to play but on the day of the game with more cases we informed the Premier League and I personally called Carlo Ancelotti to explain the situation because the day before we were in touch about what would happen and the huge risk.”
Gabriel Jesus and Kyle Walker are quarantining after testing positive. Ederson and Tommy Doyle confirmed on social media that they are also staying indoors while Fernandinho’s family said that he has not tested positive.
