Man City suffered their first defeat in their final group game against RB Leipzig.

The Cityzens lost 2-1 at the hands of RB Leipzig with goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and Andre Silva sealing the win for the German club.

It was nonetheless a frustrating night for Guardiola’s men who were reduced to 10-men as Kyle Walker was sent off for reckless challenge on Andre Silva.

“We played better in the second half, (we were) more aggressive, we played to win the game and we lost it so congrats to Leipzig,” Guardiola said.

“First half we lacked rhythm, we had problems to contact, and they had a really good team, we knew it before the group stage, but the second half was much better.

“But, unfortunately, we were punished with one or two mistakes.

“We made an incredible group stage. We qualified with a game left in a top group, so we are more than satisfied with the performance in every single game.

“In February hopefully we can arrive in the best condition possible.”
