Pep Guardiola Proud Of Manchester City's Trajectory Since His Arrival

Pep Guardiola was pleased with his team’s performance in the 3-0 win over Birmingham City.

City progressed to the second round of the FA Cup after comfortably getting past the Blues.

“First objective is done. Some young players were involved and we have qualified for the next round,” said Guardiola. “If you follow the trajectory of our team since I arrived, we didn’t drop one game.

“That’s why we are in a fourth Carabao Cup final in a row, the FA Cup we won two seasons ago, and a semi-final last season.

“Players like Kyle and Gabriel came back. Rodri didn’t play last game, Mendy (for a) long time didn’t play. So for six, seven players today was good. Every game we play, we will try to win and if the players are more or less fresh, I will use them.”

City had several players missing due to the COVID-19 contraction and injuries. Most of them are due to return ahead of their Premier League tie against Brighton next. After a rough start to the season, Guardiola’s men seem to be coming along.

Liverpool are only four points ahead of them at the top while City have two games in hand as an advantage. They will be aiming to rectify last season’s disappointments of just winning the League Cup as opposed to multiple pieces of silverware.
